My process begins with a simple action — listening. Our collaboration is based on your desire for fine carpentry, whether built-in cabinets, multi-use shelving, or precisely hung and trimmed doors. I combine your ideas and needs with my suggestions to create a tailor-made design with a working budget.
After thoughtfully selecting the materials, I typically mill most of the parts in my shop. Wood is a magnificent medium with such inherent beauty. I take care selecting and orienting the grain for each part with the final product in mind.
With many projects I have a professional finisher apply a wide range of stains, finishes and paints in his environmentally controlled studio. In some circumstances it is preferable for me to apply the finish in my shop. During more extensive remodels, professional painters typically finish my work on site. Regardless, the end result is a silky-smooth, durable, low maintenance finish.
There is nothing more exciting and gratifying than installing a well thought-out and carefully-built project. By applying various scribing and installation techniques, I marry the piece to its surroundings in your home. Lasting anywhere from a few hours to a few days, this is the culmination of our collaboration and the actualization of our vision.
